Bey Breaks Barriers at Coachella 2018

Beyonce delivered an epic and unforgettable performance at Coachella Saturday night. Not only was she the first black woman to headline the show, but she was accompanied by an 'HBCU style' brass band of about 100 members for almost two hours.

Queen Bey arrived dressed as Egyptian Queen Nefertiti, then after changing into a yellow hoodie and denim shorts opened the show with "Crazy in Love." 

A number of surprise performances included her "Deja Vu" duet with husband Jay Z followed by a Destiny's Child reunion with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams to sing hits such as "Soldier," "Say My Name," and "Lose My Breath." Bey's sister Solange then joined her for a dance number to "Get Me Bodied."

According to Rolling Stone, this year's Coachella was Beyonce's first live performance since giving birth to twins last June. "I was supposed to perform at Coachella before, but I ended up getting pregnant,” she explained to the crowd of diehard fans. "So I had time to dream and dream and dream with two beautiful souls in my belly, and I dreamed up this performance," she said.

The performance would not be the same without Beyonce highlighting women's empowerment with "Run the World," and popular ladies anthem "Single Ladies." According to the New York Times, there were numerous symbols representing black power including quotes from Malcolm X and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie throughout her performance. 

The entire show was overflowing with high-energy choreography and Beyonce and her dancers were nothing short of perfection for the duration of the concert. This show will surely go down in history as one that was relevant, timeless and impeccably delivered.
